Clark County Planning Commission Approves Red Rock Canyon Development

Only a few parcels within the Red Rock Canyon Overlay District are privately owned and approved for residential development. The Overlay District was created to protect the park and prevent dense development from creeping towards the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area; something that could easily occur, given the frenzy in the Las Vegas real estate market, if allowed.

Alan Levinson, whose family owns Bonnie Springs Ranch in the Red Rock Canyon area, is one of those few private owners. The Clark County Planning Commission recently approved 5-0 a residential neighborhood development on Levinson's 34 acres of vacant desert land, which will consist of 17 ranch-style homes geared towards horse owners.
